Pick the West Palm Beach experience you want
West Palm Beach is not one continuous restaurant strip. It is a collection of dining pockets, each suited to a different kind of day or night.
Choose Clematis Street when you want dinner to lead naturally into cocktails, live music or another stop. Head toward the Flagler Drive waterfront for an Intracoastal stroll before or after your meal. CityPlace offers a more polished setting for date night, shopping or dinner before a performance at the Kravis Center.
Go beyond the obvious downtown blocks
Northwood Village brings a smaller-scale, creative neighborhood atmosphere north of downtown. Farther south, the South Dixie and Antique Row area combines restaurants with galleries, design shops and historic neighborhoods.
These areas are less about seeing the largest number of restaurants at once and more about discovering another side of the city.
Find a restaurant for the occasion
West Palm Beach works especially well when the meal is part of a larger plan. Build an evening around a performance, meet friends downtown and continue along Clematis Street, spend Saturday morning at the GreenMarket, or pair lunch with the Norton Museum of Art, Antique Row or the waterfront.
The choices range from coffee and casual counters to international cuisines, steakhouses, seafood, rooftop drinks and special-occasion dining.
Saturday mornings on the waterfront
During its season, the West Palm Beach GreenMarket transforms the eastern end of Clematis Street into a waterfront gathering place filled with produce, baked goods, prepared foods and local vendors.
It is an excellent starting point for a downtown morning, but it also brings street closures and larger crowds. Arrive early if you want time to browse before continuing to brunch or lunch nearby.
Before you go
Downtown is the easiest part of West Palm Beach to explore on foot. Clematis Street, CityPlace, the waterfront and Brightline station are close enough to combine without repeatedly moving your car.
Municipal garages are usually more convenient than searching for street parking. Allow extra time during GreenMarket mornings, concerts, festivals and seasonal events.
One useful distinction for visitors: West Palm Beach is on the mainland and does not have an ocean beach. Palm Beach and its beaches are across the Intracoastal, only minutes away but in a separate municipality.
