Went because their social media is on point. First impression was okay … we were sat directly in front of the “server station“ after asking to sit at the sushi bar (we laughed it off and moved on), no one else in the restaurant. The area we sat at felt a bit unclean. The Thai had really good heat and the sushi was good. The temperature was really warm inside and kind of made it difficult to enjoy. We went early and the only ones in there so it was quiet. It wasn’t bad at all and the server was very friendly.

I’ve been eating spicy Thai, Korean, Indian food, etc. my whole life. Same for my wife, who is half Indian. We know what’s spicy and what’s not. We ordered spiciness level 2 (out of 5) expecting it to be not very spicy, and I instead asked for some hot/chili oil on the side to add to mine since I like a little more heat than my wife does. The spring roll appetizer (x2) was ok, but both of our entrees were much spicier than any 2. Mine was spicy enough that I didn’t use any of the chili oil I’d asked for and I still thought it was on the verge of too hot to eat. Lot's of sweating! Wife’s was definitely too spicy to eat. I told the waitress that my wife’s was too spicy. They offered to redo it, but we had the appetizers and we didn’t want to wait for another entrée to be cooked. I’d probably be done by the time it came out. Wife said she’d try to eat hers and I asked for some extra rice to dilute it down a little. She tried that and it was still too spicy. So, she gave up after just a few bites from a dish full of food. I ate mine, but I expected hers to be taken off the check. It wasn’t, though. So, I told the waitress we wanted it taken off, but she said the manager told her no. So I asked to speak directly with the manager. The manager was rude and dismissive and argued that we got what we ordered and had to pay for it. I explained that my wife didn’t eat hers because it’s too spicy. We already said it was too spicy when we got it. She didn’t eat it. I wanted it taken off the check. No, the manager said. We ordered a 2 and we got a 2. To add, while nothing was said when I asked for it, that little thing of chili oil was on the check, too, for $1.25. Seriously? For some chili oil and without saying there was a charge? Don’t eat at this place.

Had dinner here with my coworkers and it was great! We shared the spicy garlic edamame appetizer which was delicious. We all really enjoyed our entrees: I had the pad thai and it was great! Everything came out quickly and piping hot. Just sad they were out of the mango stick rice for dessert :(

Good service, tasty sushi, expensive prices. Tried the following: Classic roll: - Salmon — not a lot of salmon — mostly rice The Creation Rolls: - CT roll — tasty and creative — expensive $32 - Rock and Roll — tasty — expensive $30 Pad Thai with Steak - good portion - flavour is ok - I’d stick with the chicken - expensive $27 Wonton Soup - excellent flavour - wontons and broth are tasty Fish Fingers and fries - good size pieces of fish - flaky fish with a good batter Overall they have tasty food, but prepare to pay for it.

Wok by the Beach is a hidden gem. If you’re looking for cheap, corner-store sushi with cheap preserved tuna this isn’t that. They use only high-quality, fresh fish, and you can taste the difference in every bite. The sushi is excellent clean, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their Pad Thai is also spot on. On top of the food, the atmosphere is something special. One of the most stunning ocean murals I’ve ever seen takes up the wall, painted by none other than THE Carey Chen. If you care about quality and want something beyond the usual takeout sushi, this spot delivers. Highly recommend.
