We decided to try Proper Grit at The Ben after hearing so many great things, and overall, it definitely lived up to the hype. The evening started with a slight hiccup at valet. When we arrived, we couldn’t find the valet attendant at first because he was sitting on a bench on his phone. Once he noticed us, he explained that valet was already full and only available for hotel guests checking in, so we had to circle around to park in the garage and walk back to the restaurant. Thankfully, it was a beautiful evening, so it wasn’t the end of the world, but it did start the night off with a little frustration. Once inside, though, everything completely turned around. We were seated immediately, and our server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the night. We started with the chips and dip appetizer, which was honestly one of the most unique and delicious starters we’ve had in a long time. The homemade onion dip paired with fresh, house-made potato chips was absolutely amazing. For dinner, my husband ordered the pork chop and said it was the best pork chop he’s ever had. He also got a side of the roasted mushrooms, which I ended up adding to my prime rib dip sandwich — and wow, they were incredible. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Even though we were already stuffed, we couldn’t resist trying the carrot cake dessert because the description intrigued us. It came topped with grilled pineapple, which sounded unusual at first, but it worked so well. It was outstanding. We ended up taking home half the sandwich and half the carrot cake because the portions were generous. The atmosphere was fantastic with a great vibe, live music, and a fun energy throughout the restaurant. Despite the rough start with parking, the food, service, and ambiance made for a really enjoyable evening, and we will absolutely be back.

Great location in downtown WPB, I did the High tea service with a group of ladies from the Luxe Sister Hood and it was a great experience. The tea service was very nice and very detailed. I love the information given about the various teas and bites. Try it out they won’t disappoint. Very Posh feel

Located at The Ben in downtown West Palm Beach, this restaurant should not be missed. The service was great all around. From the valets, to the doorman, to the hostesses, and our server, everyone was friendly and gracious. We ordered the Truffle Frites Au Fromage as an appetizer, and were blown away. The fries come with a Gruyère fondue that you can pour over tlhem. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. The nuttiness and sweetness of the cheese will make you reevaluate all of your prior cheese fries decisions. I had the Pastrami Spiced Pork Chop. It had good flavor and was well cooked. But the Red Cabbage Mostarda that it came with melted in my mouth and I couldn’t get enough For dessert, we ordered the Carrot Cake. It had bits of pineapple and some candied nuts sprinkled on top and was served with some spiced whipped cream. This slice of cake may change your life. In my opinion, it’s one of the top desserts Palm Beach County. It is delightful I know that this is a long review. But hear me out. We went on a Saturday night in December There’s ice skating across the street, there’s Sandi the Christmas tree within walking distance, and a lot going on downtown right now. More people should’ve been at this restaurant. For a place this good, there should not have been as many empty tables. Was it dead? No. Were there patrons at the bar? Yes. But more people need to come and try Proper Grit. The service is great. The vibes are immaculate. And most importantly, the food is delicious

We had an outstanding high tea experience! Our waitress (Gigi?) was incredible with giving us each tea to smell and overall created a very bespoke experience. The sandwiches were delicious, I can’t stop raving about the mini lobster roll. The desserts were spectacular as well. We will definitely be returning for high tea! Also wanted to mention we planned the tea time very last minute, and the hostess (Genevieve?) was so helpful with taking our booking over the phone. We were very grateful that she has excellent customer service, truly stood out and set a wonderful tone for the experience!

I was very disappointed to hear about my friend's experience at Proper Grit. They were the only people of color in the restaurant. After they had finished their meal, they were asked to leave so that guests with reservations could be seated. While restaurants certainly need to accommodate reservations, what made the situation upsetting was that other tables who had also finished their meals were not asked to leave. My friend requested to speak with a manager because they felt they had been treated unfairly. Instead of first listening to their concerns, the staff immediately assumed the issue was with the food and offered to replace the meal. That wasn't the problem. Their concern was how they were treated and why they appeared to be the only guests being asked to leave. Whether this was intentional or not, the experience left them feeling singled out and unwelcome. Every customer deserves to be treated with the same level of respect, dignity, and fairness. I hope management takes the time to review what happened, listen to customer concerns before making assumptions, and ensure that all guests receive consistent and respectful treatment.
