I went to the La Granja at 3301 Northlake Blvd in Palm Beach Gardens and specifically asked the cashier for the Half Chicken Meal with dark meat only (like drums and thighs). I pointed to the advertised price on the menu/sign: $12.35 (photo attached for reference—likely an in-store special or base platter price). She immediately said dark meat costs an extra $1.50, which didn’t make sense to me—dark meat is actually cheaper/no upcharge) compared to all-white breast meat. She then rang it up at $13.95 subtotal (before tax), which was already higher than the posted price. I called her out on it and showed the sign again. She got the manager, who said okay, they’d fix it and ring it correctly this time. She tried again—and it came up the same $13.95 subtotal. I was getting frustrated and almost just paid to leave, but I asked the manager to break down why it jumped from the advertised $12.35 to a total of $14.68. He quickly blamed “taxes,” but that’s not accurate—the subtotal was already wrong at $13.95 before tax even applied. I kept pushing, pointing out the math, and the manager finally said something to her in Spanish. She then rang it up properly at the advertised $12.35 (plus correct tax). This whole exchange felt shady—like they were trying to sneak in an extra charge for dark meat (or just inflating the subtotal) and hoping most customers wouldn’t notice, argue, or check the menu closely. The repeated wrong ring-up and quick excuses only reinforced that impression. I’ve had La Granja before—the rotisserie chicken is usually solid—but this makes me wonder if this location (or staff) routinely tries to overcharge banking on people not speaking up. Prices online (e.g., via DoorDash/Uber Eats for this spot) show half-chicken platters around $15–16 lately, but if there’s a clear in-store sign at $12.35 for dark meat, they should honor it. I’ll definitely double-check receipts and prices next time—and maybe stick to ordering online where it’s transparent. Anyone else had similar issues at this Palm Beach Gardens location or other La Granjas with dark meat pricing or totals not matching the board? (Attach your photo of the menu/sign showing $12.35 for the half chicken meal.)
This is the best La Granja that I have seen so far having experienced other locations. Was satisfying to see how spacious it was but also how beautiful was their layout and decor. But what surprised me the most was their Caribbean bar, which was told was the only one. Their food, of course, always delicious and plentiful. And greeted always their topping which made the dish even more superb. All in all this will be one of my favorite spots to visit snd invite my friends. Good Job, La Granja!
Nothing like the pictures in the menu and when you ask why the dishes doesn't look like the pic the cashier give you actitud What you order vs What you get
Seafood gumbo so good. Great food many healthy choices. Service was ok at best. Kitchen gets all 5 stars however our server would get maybe a 2 star. A smile goes a long way.
Haven't been here in a while. First thing I noticed when I walk through the door the cashier did not greet us, didn't smile, looked like she really didn't want to be there. Had to ask twice to smile. That's not how you greet people when they come into your restaurant. We ordered the quarter chicken combo chicken, the portion was small rest of the food was good. I noticed the place is a little run down, it needs to be updated. What caught my attention when I go into any establishment are the bathrooms and the air vents and boy did they tell their story.. makes you wonder if bathrooms look like this what the hands look like coming out the bathrooms that cook your food. So I won't be back. If only management can get a professional cleaning company to come in here and fix all this stuff it should be good to go.
