3/28/26--430pm--After taking a much-needed nap—which I strongly believe was caused by the antibiotic (because I am not a nap person)—I woke up thinking, “Okay, we need to enjoy this last day with our friends.” Since they were leaving the next day, we decided to go out for an early dinner. I told everyone, “Listen… we are not night people.” Reservations at another Italian restaurant didn’t work out, so this place became our second choice. But sometimes second choices surprise you… like in life—“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). So we went with the flow. As we arrived, my husband casually says, “Oh, I was here not long ago with Jimmy—it was good.” Okay… expectations slightly raised. We sat outside at first, then got moved because the table was reserved—no big deal. Honestly, I enjoy observing everything, so I didn’t mind. I started people-watching (my favorite free entertainment). I saw this young couple pull up in bathing suits—clearly fresh from the beach—and they just changed right there outside the car. I said to myself, “This… THIS is Florida.” And let me just say… the boyfriend was better looking than the girlfriend. I’m sorry, I just report what I see. We were so early that the restaurant was very quiet. No background music, just natural sounds—and I actually loved that. It felt peaceful. The sun earlier that day was shining beautifully, and the view… wow. One of those afternoons you wish you could pause. I ordered a Sprite—they didn’t have Fanta or orange soda (small disappointment). Then I asked for a café latte, but either they didn’t have it or there was a little language confusion. What I got was coffee with hot milk… but honestly, it still worked. They brought bread, then I ordered a beet salad—very good. For my entrée, I had salmon, also good. My husband ordered flounder… and this is where things changed. He didn’t like it at all—said it was chewy. And if you know my husband, he is a fish and coffee aficionado, so this is serious business. He told the server, and to their credit, the restaurant handled it very graciously. They removed it from the bill since he truly couldn’t eat it. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, so that’s important to say. Now, I will be honest… it is hard for me to rate Italian restaurants outside of Italy. I’ve been there. And honestly, New England—especially Rhode Island—has some of the best Italian food in the U.S. So me? I refuse to order pasta in Florida. I don’t care if the owner flew in from Rome yesterday. That said, the food here was not bad at all, and the service was excellent. And let’s be fair—no restaurant is perfect every single time. One dish went wrong, but they handled it well, and that matters. Then came the best part—they surprised my husband with a birthday cake, sang “Happy Birthday,” and didn’t charge us for the tiramisu. And just like that… everything ended on a sweet note. “A cheerful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22)… and between the sunshine, the laughter, and the free tiramisu—we left happy. Would I go back? Yes. Because in the end, it’s not just about perfect food—it’s about how a place makes you feel. And as you can probably tell by now, I’ve been referencing Carrie Bradshaw a little too much—yes, I’ve been watching Sex and the City. But let me just say it… And Just Like That? Subpar. I could have written a better storyline myself. And removing Samantha with that whole “fallout” between her and Carrie? Not believable. I’m sorry… I had to say it.

This is a really nice hidden little gem in Juno Beach. I have been here several times now and the food and service have always been excellent. It can be very busy on certain nights so reservations are recommended.

We decided to try Portofino for dinner based on the reviews. It's a restaurant in a mall and we didn't realize there is no bar and they only have a wine and beer liquor license which is disappointing on both counts. Our experience began with bread service -they brought three little pieces - it was warm - and served it with tasteless EVOO. We requested a more robust olive oil which they brought out from the kitchen - much better! What they have on the table is terrible for a mediterranean restaurant and they could have been more generous with the bread but they were happy to bring more. We had the escargot which was a generous portion with a good garlic and herb sauce. It would have been a little better if served with They could have crostini but they did have seafood forks (bonus for that!). We also shared the Branzino served over spinach - they have a $5.00 sharing charge but as you can see from the pictures - we each got a full entree sized serving. It was cooked very well and the sauce was delicious. Next time - While the food is very good, we do not find the ambiance inviting - the lighting is too bright and the exposed kitchen is not attractive. The lack of bar seating and a full bar would deter us from coming back - sadly.

Portofino Bistro is a must visit for anyone who enjoys excellent Italian food, fresh fish and Vegan options. Fresh ingredients are used in preparation of each meal that authenticates a bistro in the Mediterranean. Our veal parm was outstanding, tender and flavorful and the bread is divine. Chef Marcelo is talented in his meal creations as every entree is thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting with cloth tablecloths, soft lighting and an excellent wine list.The Service at Portofino Bistro with wait staff, Gustavo and Andrew, is of a 5 star restaurant meeting the customers requirements to enjoy their dining experience. We will return, as we love to dine here and enjoy their consistent delicious meals.

We had a wonderful experience at Portofino Italian Cuisine. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and authentic Italian flavors. A special thank you to Elena and Andres, as well as the chef and the entire kitchen staff, for providing exceptional service and creating such an enjoyable dining experience. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and professional from the moment we arrived, ensuring that every detail of our meal was perfect. We look forward to coming back and highly recommend Portofino Italian Cuisine to anyone seeking outstanding Italian cuisine paired with exceptional hospitality.
