Gosh, I just love this place, quite possibly one of the best restaurants in downtown delray. The quality is great, the crew cooks with love and the vibes are somewhere between old local watering hole and cabin in the woods. I've done some extensive research and this place does the best smash burger and quite possibly best burger (for the price *particularly at happy hour) in Delray. The red onion is cut perfectly thin and the pickle ratio is spot on. Im tummy ache prone, and I've never left unsettled, no liquid smoke that im aware of, the ingredients are fresh and the turnover is quick. There's a reasonable sized list of local beers and some alcohol too (not local that I know of). I docked them a star on atmosphere because there's a wall or two that are begging for a few more pieces of taxidermy (gator, armadillo, sketchy racoon, I'll even take a wonky deer, or just keep it classy and add a few fish mounts to go along with the shark). I work with a crew of warehouse boys and they come to eat here atleast twice a week and I always hear them cry on Mondays when they have to opt for something else. My personal order if I'm ordering to go is Kale salad, jerk chicken, dressing on the side and I take it home and add some delicious beef broth on top and its such a killer hack... wish they'd throw a girl a bone and add some nice brothy soup to the menu π fingers crossed for a winter specialπ€π»π€π». Oh, oh, also, you must try the the BBQ sauces, the best, in my opinion, the mustard, the coffee and the spicy... try them paired together in every configuration because it changes every bite of flavor.
This is the type of place everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood... straightforward, honest, excellent chow served in a laid-back, super chill atmosphere by a welcoming staff who make you feel like you're part of the family. It's a small place with a simple, no-frills design that works perfectly. When you enter, you place your order with Milo and then grab a table inside or out in their large and very nicely appointed backyard space. Be great for families. They'll call your name when your order is ready... or if things aren't jammin', they'll bring it out to you. There are also a few seats at the bar. While you're waiting, head to the sauce station in the back and sample the lineup... find your favorite. They're all great. I've now been here twice and everything has been excellent. The Pork Spare Ribs are tender, meaty, and loaded with flavor... perfectly cooked... loved them. The sides are also very good... my favorite was the Caribbean Slaw with spicy citrus vinaigrette. Also enjoyed the Kale Caesar and Coconut Rice & Peas. The Crinkle Cut Fries are fine, though I see room for improvement here. I always assumed Jerk Chicken was extremely hot, so I was never interested in ordering it. But after talking with "the boys" on my first visit, I came back specifically to try the chicken... and also the burger after hearing a guest, clearly a regular, rave about it. Visit #2... The Jerk Chicken is absolutely amazing! And no... it isn't HOT. The sauce is magical... addictive, really. The chicken, like everything else here, is very high quality and cooked perfectly, very moist and flavorful... so great! Now let's talk burgers... and yes, they are excellent. Interestingly, the "single" Old Fashioned Hamburger actually comes with two patties, shaved red onion, pickles, and Fancy Sauce on a toasted Martin's potato roll. The "double" gets three patties. So that photo of the $5 Happy Hour Burger (daily from 4:30β5:30 at the bar and high-tops only) is correct, the two-patty "single" Burger. An amazing burger for five bucks. Loved it. We added extra cheese (+$2). The Hot & Sweet Hushpuppies... savory corn batter topped with chili honey and served with whipped honey butter... dense but very tasty. The Jimmy Red Cornbread, made with Jimmy Red Corn from Marsh Hen Mill, was a bit different and enjoyable. Like everything else here, they put real thought into their beer selections. I was very impressed with the Gulfstream Graphic Hybrid IPA. Don't sleep on the excellent Frozen Margaritas. Even the music selection was spot-on and fit the place perfectly. Manager Brian, like everyone working here, is down-to-earth, welcoming, and eager to please. A great atmosphere. Easy to park, on street or in their parking lot... and let's face it, it's easy to find! This place already feels like one of those neighborhood spots you'll find yourself returning to again and again. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We keep coming back for the ribs. Tender, flavorful, just outstanding. Worth the drive every time. They have backyard seating, which is a nice touch. Special shoutout to Milo at the bar. Always top notch, great recommendations.
I really enjoyed the bbq here. After a family member was telling me about the WPB location, we realized they opened a location in downtown Delray Beach and were already in the area. The location is small with only a handful of tables but spacious enough to eat comfortably. You order your food and then sit down. They have a variety of sauces and utensils in the back. By the time we got our sauces and sat down the food was ready. I thought the brisket and spare ribs were excellent. They could be enjoyed without any sauce. Good smoke flavor. As well as the mac and cheese and fries. Would definitely return next time Iβm in the area. As far as bbq prices in South Florida go, itβs reasonable.
BEST smashburgers in town (SHHHH)!! Also amazing BBQ! The spicy wahoo dip is a must as well, and is mildly spiced unless you ask them to make it hotter. Mac & cheese is my favorite side with the Smashburger. This location has a cozy vibe! We enjoy sitting at the bar talking to Milo and Ethan (the master Smashburger maker). Service is excellent and the staff is very welcoming. For the pups, they sell smoked pig ears and my dog loves them! We always grab them to go for her. She even enjoyed a Smashburger for her 4th birthday at home Wanna save some money? They are on InKind! Check it out.
