3/29/26-We are still on a roll—our last morning with friends before they head back to the greater Boston area. They went to church early, 7:30 AM, like disciplined saints. Me? I am still recovering from this surgery, sleeping more than usual. Even my body said, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). And I obeyed… deeply… under a blanket. But I told them, “We will go for breakfast.” Because no matter what, breakfast must happen—this is a principle, not a suggestion for today only - i ain't a breakfast person. P Since it was Palm Sunday, my friend brought back palm strips from church, which felt very special. There was something peaceful about it. A reminder of Matthew 21:9—“Hosanna to the Son of David!”—and here we are, going to breakfast like modern-day disciples… but with coffee first. My husband and his friend had been to this restaurant before, so they wanted to go back. We drove to Tequesta, and on the way I told my husband, “You know the name sounds like ‘Te cuesta’ in Spanish… like ‘it costs you’… which makes sense, because this looks like a very rich area.” I mean… beautiful homes, calm streets… even the air feels expensive. We arrived—plenty of parking, thank you Jesus—and were greeted by Martha, a lovely young lady with a cross necklace. Immediately, I liked her. There is something about seeing a cross—it centers you. My friend even recognized someone from St. Jude Catholic Church. Small world… or maybe just a well-connected Sunday morning. I started observing the restaurant—because I always do. Trying to connect with the architectural vision, the intention, the story. Above us was a painting, and I told the group, “This feels like a fresco… like something from the Sistine Chapel.” Maybe a little dramatic, but listen… in my world, breakfast can be Renaissance-level. The wood details, the shine, the subtle boat-inspired touches—I thought, “These people love the sea.” And then… I saw it. A Greek omelet. My day was made. Truly. “I couldn’t help but wonder…” (yes, very Sex and the City of me)… is happiness just a good Greek omelet away? I asked for mine without tomatoes, and Martha—hands together, little blink—made it happen like she came straight out of I Dream of Jeannie. Efficient. Magical. No questions asked. Yes. I have been watching I dream of Jeanie as well 😌 My husband ordered pancakes, and let me tell you—I am glad I tried them. The syrup? Real. No artificial flavor, no IHOP situation. It was giving, “We are not them.” Quiet luxury syrup vibe. I respect it. I asked for pound cake with my café con leche… and again—denied. Ever since staying in Airbnbs, pound cake has been avoiding me like a bad date. But like Carrie would say, “Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed… maybe they just need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with.” In my case… that someone is pound cake. I will find it one day. Then I remembered—this is the area where Tiger Woods had that accident. Of course, after breakfast, we drove by. Because curiosity… always. But truly, this morning was beautiful. A perfect mix of faith, friendship, food, and a little humor. A soft goodbye—not dramatic, just meaningful. A great way to say, “See you later, alligators”—and in this case, it actually fits… because we are in Florida. 🐊
Man I had the sliders and the wife had the Cuban sandwich. When I say it was so bad jezz the meat in the sliders taste so bad like microwave meat. I had better burgers at my kids school. And my wife sandwich was terrible. Staff was nice a com the sliders and ask if I wanted something else but I passed . Cheese sticks where good.
Met the owners on the golf course, was brought and enjoyed a great meal outside with live music. Their paninis are on a great sourdough with nice char on outside. I rec Broadway fig panini. All around good experience for a new restaurant. Official opening Jan 9th
I love Cafe 718. Everyone that works there is so friendly and really goes above and beyond every time I come in. I’ve definitely become a regular since it’s so close to both my house and work. The food is always so good too. Highly recommend checking it out
Pretty standard diner for breakfast. Food was good, service was great.
